Dr. Christina Brunson

A native of Springfield, Ohio but lovingly calls Akron her “home”.  She moved to Akron, Ohio after high school, and attended The University of Akron.  Majoring in Business Administration, she graduated and hit the ground running working for the Akron Beacon Journal where she was the Lead Advertising Coordinator, before moving to FirstEnergy Corporation.  Dr. Brunson knew the importance of education and obtained her master’s and Doctorate degrees from Baker College – Center for Graduate Studies – with a concentration in Finance and Leadership Studies.  Dr Brunson’s research during her doctoral included Financial Literacy and the Impact in the African American Community.  Continuing to develop her personal educational curriculum, she continues to participate in seminars, trainings, and conferences related to Diversity and Inclusion education. 

As Co-Founder and Co-Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Brunson understands the importance of having a diverse and inclusive workplace and held many positions throughout her career like Senior Business Analyst, Quality Assurance Specialist, and Scrum Master.  Dr. Brunson is able to effectively communicate with management at all levels of organizations.  During her twenty years of corporate experience, she has modernized projects to make them ‘smarter’ and more resilient through cutting edge technologies, equipment, and controls.  In accomplishing those goals, diversity and inclusion was always at the forefront.        

Dr. Brunson enjoys traveling and vacationing with her husband and two children.  In her spare time, she is an adjunct faculty at her alma mater – The University of Akron – where she teaches leadership studies, ethics, and information design.  She continues to be actively involved in the community and loves volunteering for organizations like United Way, Akron Canton Foodbank, Akron Marathon, and Family Promise.  She serves on the boards of Child Evangelism Fellowship – Akron, The University of Akron Advisory Council, and Chapel Hill Christian School.
